Comavia chose to use the SKF CMC Livingston digital board technology building block and ruggedised mechanical enclosure as the foundation for their custom instrumentation solution.
These field proven elements were then enhanced through the integrations of Comavia's own Mil 1553 electronics and the addition of customer external comms via application specific BNC connectors.
Comavia went on to developed a Windows CE bus monitoring application to run on the handheld device.
The resulting instrument allows users to interface to the widely used Mil 1553 avionics bus for testing and monitoring purposes on aircraft.
ComAvia's clients include the Indian Airforce where the units are currently being used to log in-flight test data on board fighter jets.
Through the integration of MIL1553 electronics into the SKF custom instrumentation solution, users can benefit from a field tested, portable form factor with outstanding battery longevity and intuitive user interface via touchscreen and keypad.
These features are key criteria for instruments used in the cramped confines of a fighter jet cockpit.
This handheld solution replaces inconvenient, bulky, fragile and sometimes temperamental laptop based solutions with an instrument which is tailored specifically to ComAvia's customers test requirements. |
