Software Design

The software application development team at SKF CMC Livingston has many man-years of experience in developing applications to run on Windows CE-based devices such as our own handheld devices, as well as desktop PCs.

The applications team (as part of our ISO9000:2000-certified engineering department) follow well-established software engineering practices to ensure that the applications they develop will meet the customers' requirements and timescales without sacrificing quality.

We put a very strong focus on testing, from early in application development through to in-house testing, and final customer acceptance.

The team also provide technical backup for post-delivery customer support.

The CMC Livingston application team use a variety of tools, including:

  • DOORS requirements management system - to ensure that all requirements are specified, implemented and tested
  • RCS revision control system - to ensure the integrity and traceability of all source code
  • In-house defect tracking system - to ensure that software quality issues are logged and resolved
  • Embedded Visual C++ and MFC - to create applications for Windows CE devices
  • Visual Studio and Borland C++ Builder to create applications for Windows PCs
  • Matlab - to model signal-processing algorithms, design filters, etc.
